"Most collectors have no one around them who gets it. No one to debate a rookie valuation with. No one who understands why a pop report matters. The Card Wire exists to be that resource - for every collector, everywhere."

The Card Wire was founded in 2026 by Brandon, a sports card collector with over 20 years in the hobby. The idea is simple: build the trading card publication that serious collectors actually deserve. Not hype. Not content built around clicks. Just honest, experience-based analysis of the sports card market - baseball, basketball, football, hockey, wrestling, UFC, golf and beyond, from vintage classics to the latest modern releases.

The market has changed dramatically over the past two decades. Cards are more valuable, grading companies have more influence, and the volume of information - good and bad - has exploded. Finding trustworthy analysis in all that noise is harder than it should be. That's the gap The Card Wire was built to fill.

The Origin Story

Like most collectors, Brandon grew up watching sports and pulling cards. Over 20+ years the hobby became a constant - ripping wax, hunting eBay, hitting card shows, reading everything he could find. The problem was always the same: good, honest information was hard to come by. Too much content was driven by hype, too many takes were financially motivated, and too few writers were willing to just call it straight.

Living in Courtenay, BC, he didn't have many people around him who shared the passion. No one to talk cards with. No one to bounce a potential buy off of. No one who understood why a card's resale potential matters even when you're buying it purely as a fan. So he decided to share what he'd built up over two decades with anyone who wanted to listen - and The Card Wire was born.

From The Founder
"I'm here for the love of the hobby. Whether I'm watching the game, shopping eBay at midnight, going to a card show on a Saturday, or digging through data to figure out if a card is worth the bid - this is genuinely how I love to spend my time. If I can help someone make a smarter decision, avoid a mistake I already made, or just get more out of the hobby they love - that's the whole point. Nothing sounds more exciting to me than turning that into something real."

Every article on The Card Wire is written with one question in mind: does this actually help a collector make a better decision? If the answer is no, it doesn't get published. That's not a mission statement - it's just how this works.

This is an independent publication. No card manufacturers, grading companies, or marketplace platforms influence what gets written here. The only agenda is the hobby itself.

01
Honest Always
If a set isn't worth buying, we say so. If a card is overvalued, we explain why. No hidden agendas, no sponsor influence - just straight talk from someone who has been in the hobby for over 20 years.
02
Love of the Hobby
This wasn't built to get rich quick. It was built because cards are genuinely exciting, sports are genuinely thrilling, and sharing that with fellow collectors is genuinely worthwhile. That's the whole foundation.
03
Always Free
Every article, every guide, every market update - free, always. Collectors shouldn't have to pay a subscription to get good information about their own hobby. That is not changing.
Where We're Going

The Card Wire is just getting started. The goal is to build the most trusted independent voice in the Canadian sports card space - and eventually well beyond it. More sports. More content. More writers who share the same love of the hobby and the same commitment to getting it right.
